As a wedding photographer, it’s always a special treat to photograph someone that I know. I’ve known Samantha for a little while, so I jumped at the chance to photograph her Quarry Park engagement session with her fiance, Brian. It has been such a joy to watch their relationship and to see them work through wedding planning together.
They met on social media through a mutual friend and started talking online before meeting up at the Stearns County Fair. Samantha described their engagement as “the most magical moment with the most beautiful views!” Brian proposed during an elk hunting trip in Colorado with his family. He and Samantha were headed back earlier than everyone else when he pretended he needed a moment to catch his breath. He proposed right there on the side of the mountain, and of course she said yes!
We started their session in the woodlands with their two cute pups. Samantha opted for a deep orange and white floral dress, and Brian kept things clean with a white Carhartt shirt and blue jeans. Their two adorable dogs tagged along, and one wore a bandana announcing, “My human is getting married.” It’s so fun when couples include pets that are like family to them. Pets can help keep things casual so we can get the best, most genuine smiles!
I love when couples show off their personalities during their photo session. Samantha and Brian included a few of these personal touches that make their photos even more special. Casual photos in their truck were adorable, especially the one with Samantha leaning out the window to kiss Brian. Swoon! Of course, their pups joined them for some shots in the truck. They also brought along a favorite root beer to sip during our photo shoot. It was such a good idea to have little special somethings to make their photos even more meaningful.
It wouldn’t be a Quarry Park engagement session if we didn’t get some shots across the water. We ended our session near the water with the sun setting across an absolutely stunning cloud-filled sky. I had an incredible day with Samantha and Brian, and I can’t wait for their wedding day on October 5th!
