When Alex and Marie booked me for a beautiful Fall Engagement Session at St. John’s Arboretum, I just knew it was going to be a good time! These two are so full of life and love! And their story is the cutest ever! Here’s what Marie wrote about it:
We met in elementary school. Alex has had a crush on me ever since 2nd grade. We didn’t start dating until 9th grade. And the rest is history!
Alex proposed when we were in Yellowstone on vacation with my sister and brother in law. We wanted to see as many waterfalls as we could and Alex got down on one knee at the first waterfall. Talk about romantic!
Our favorite thing about our relationship is how much we trust each other. Whether we’re goofing around playing mini golf or snuggling in for a movie night… we are just best friends.
We are both very passionate about spending time with our families. We think family is the most important thing! As individuals, I am very passionate about volleyball, and Alex is passionate about video games.

They chose two different looks for their photos, which I always recommend for couples sessions. For the first one, Marie wore a simple black dress – which perfectly matched the afternoon-at-the-park vibe for the day! Alex complimented her outfit with a green button down and khaki pants. For the end of the session, they switched to a coordinating denim, neutrals and plaid look. It was the perfect mix of casual and put together for their photos.
Whether it’s rainy or full of sunshine, St. John’s Arboretum is always one of my favorite places for couples photos. I’ve had so many beautiful sessions there, and it never gets old! Perfectly captures the beauty of Minnesota!
