I’m always so grateful for every client who trusts me behind the lens, but this Joyful Summer Engagement Session was extra close to my heart! There’s something so endearing about photographing people you’ve known since childhood. Especially when they’re celebrating such an exciting chapter of life!
As kids, Jill and I grew up just a few houses from each other. I’ve always known her family to be kind and close-knit. Seeing her light up with happiness during these portraits truly made my heart sing.
Capturing these memories with her and her fiancé felt like a full-circle moment.
Before we got started, the couple admitted they were a little nervous (totally normal, by the way)! But it wasn’t long before we found our rhythm and all those jitters faded away. They leaned on each other, smiles spread across their faces, and allowed their sweet personalities to shine through. I’m all about turning photo sessions into little adventures. An outdoor activity always keeps people grounded and connected while getting comfortable in front of the camera!
What I love most about these sessions is watching people realize that taking photos doesn’t have to be stiff or awkward. Photos should be fun! We wandered through St. Johns Arboretum, chatting about their upcoming nuptials and letting things flow naturally.
By the end, they were completely in the moment and so pleased with the experience.
Jill and her fiancé are planning a family-centered celebration for June 2026 in Richmond, and I already know it’s going to be something truly sweet. I can definitely tell how much they value connection and shared moments. Being a part of their Joyful Summer Engagement Session felt like a warm hug, and I can’t wait to see all the love that’ll be surrounding them on the Big Day!
