Introducing: Homegrown Sessions | Minnesota Family Photographer

I’d love to introduce you to Homegrown Sessions with this post. (And when I say I LOVE THESE… I mean I love them so much!)

Here’s the thing, when most of us think of family photos, we imagine coordinating outfits, posed smiles, and golden-hour light. And while those sessions are beautiful!! They’re not the only way to capture your family story.

That’s where Homegrown Sessions come in.

Something a little different, a little more laid-back, a little more like a documentary than anything else.

These photo shoots are lifestyle family photography shoots done right at your home or property. Instead of heading to a park or studio, I spend time with your family in the places that mean the most to you. The backdrop to the best days of your life that you will reminisce on in the years to come.

Your backyard, your favorite apple trees, or the dock down by the lake. These sessions focus on documenting real life as it is right now. Messy hair, grass stains, cartwheels and all.

Take a look at these recent Homegrown sessions below. Their kids climbed trees, chased each other through the woods, picked apples, and even stopped to read books under a towering oak tree.

Another family wandered down to the water, played in the sand, and spent time together on the dock with their cat. It wasn’t about everyone looking at the camera at the same time (although, yes, we always get at least one of those shots for grandparents 🙂 but simply existing in the same space.

You’re always going to remember the times your kiddos were little and the things they said, or how they looked. But the backdrop will fade. The tiny in-between moments blur.

Homegrown Sessions forever freeze those, so you can hold onto them as your kids get older and change.

One of my favorite parts of these shoots is that they let your children lead. When kids are free to explore, play, and just be themselves, the photos naturally reflect who they really are in this season. Whether that means dirty feet from running in the grass, a smirk as they climb a little too high, or sticky hands from munching apples: these details are worth remembering.

If you’ve ever wished your family photos could feel more like you, a Homegrown Session might be the perfect fit. They’re about slowing down, embracing the imperfections, and documenting the simple, fleeting beauty of your family’s everyday story. If you want to forever document your family this way, reach out here. Let’s chat.
