It’s no secret that March in Minnesota can be unpredictable, but Natalie and Casey lucked out with one of those rare days that feels so perfect. The air was still chilly, but it was warm enough to wander through the woods, laugh until their cheeks hurt, and soak in every second together. These playful engagement photos at Bend in the River Regional Park felt extra special from the very beginning.
Natalie and Casey first met during a breakout room for a Botany class in college.
What started as a simple Zoom conversation turned into friendship, study sessions in the library, and eventually a relationship built on authenticity and laughter. So yes, basically straight out of a book!
Their loving connection is easy to see.
Natalie loves Casey’s silly and charismatic nature. Casey loves how true they are to themselves and to each other. Together, they have built a relationship that feels grounded, joyful, and full of adventure.
Playful engagement photos felt perfect for them
Instead of focusing on stiff poses, we spent the evening with candid prompts and movement. Natalie is full of joy, and Casey knew exactly how to make her laugh.
We wandered down pine-lined trails at Bend in the River Regional Park. Tall trees surrounded us, and the warm evening light filtering through the woods gave everything a cozy, romantic feel. Later, we stepped into the open field nearby where the sky turned soft and muted as the day came to a close.
The whole session had such a relaxed vibe.
It felt more like an afternoon date than a photoshoot.
These two love spending time outdoors together. They enjoy fishing, cross-country skiing, projects around the house, and casual date nights that usually involve dinner and a drink. They are both passionate about family, nature, and building a life that feels true to who they are.
Casey proposed to Natalie on Paradise Beach in Grand Marais while they were agate hunting along Lake Superior.
Afterward, they headed back to their campsite and celebrated with steaks over the campfire.
Honestly, it sounds exactly like them.
With their wedding day coming up this November at The Hay Shed, this season of life feels especially sweet.
