Rustic Midsummer Wedding in Central Minnesota

Warm summer vows with rustic views and intimate details

The love story of Allison and Ted is one that even brought me to tears. Allison and Ted went to the same high school and first met in Spanish class. Allison decided to make the first move and attend one of his swimming meets, followed by sending him a message praising him for how great he did. The rest is history! When he proposed, they were up in Alaska for vacation and enjoying the sights via four wheeler. At one particular stop, Ted said that he wanted to get a photo of them together on top of the mountain. Before she knew it, Ted had totally surprised her by getting down on one knee and asking for her hand in marriage. What a perfect backdrop for such a life-changing question, right?!

When I arrived on site for Allison and Ted’s day, there was a fair amount of rain coming down. Now I’m sure that everyone has heard the old adage that rain on your wedding day is good luck. As a bride, though, rain on your wedding day can sometimes cause some unneeded stress. But Allison? She was cool as a cucumber – never once worrying about the weather. And it’s a good thing she didn’t worry because before long, the clouds had cleared and we were blessed with the most beautiful, sunny afternoon.

Allison and her bridesmaids were full of smiles and epic dance moves from the moment I stepped into the bridal suite. When it was time to help Allison into her gown (which was freaking STUNNING, by the way), her mom, Heather, displayed the most radiant warmth and tenderness – genuinely soaking up these precious moments of helping her daughter on such a special day. One of the many things I loved about this wedding day was the amount of thoughtfulness Allison and Ted put into all of the details. From the photo of her and her dad when she was a baby pinned into dad’s tie, to the AleHorn mugs Ted purchased for all of the men in his crew, to the table number plaques at dinner, and so much more. There were so many tears shed by all in celebration of this sweet couple.

Overall, their day was a beautiful balance of soft and romantic while also being fun and full of energy. A great example of this was how intimate and heartfelt the first looks with dad and Ted were but how her “Flower Men” hilariously dancing down the aisle had us all rolling in laughter. The décor and color scheme of sage and charcoal grey were such a perfect fit with this romantic vibe at such a beautiful venue.

Through all of the beautiful celebrations of their day, it is so evident that Allison and Ted have such an amazing group of friends and family surrounding them as they pursue this new chapter together. My absolute favorite moment of the day was when we escaped for a few minutes to snap some sunset photos. During the morning rain, I wasn’t sure we’d have a sunset to capture, but it turned out just perfect.
