What Actually Matters in Your Wedding Photos (And What Doesn’t)

If you’re a newly engaged couple (congrats!!! 🎉) and you’re wondering what actually matters in your wedding photos (and what doesn’t)… this is for you.

Let’s be real, because I’ve gotten married before too: wedding planning comes with a lot of pressure. Pinterest-perfect flatlays, must-have shot lists, and elaborate decor setups can start to feel like the most important part of the day. But here’s the truth: when you look back at your pictures years from now, it’s not the perfectly fluffed napkins or the symmetrical arbor that will move you.

It’s the moment your partner teared up during vows. The way your grandma squeezed your hand before the ceremony.

The champagne-fueled laugh you shared with your best friend during speeches. The little moments that are burned in your memory; and the ones you forgot about until you were flipping through your wedding album.

What actually matters in your wedding photos?
Emotion. Connection. Storytelling. Laughter. Presence.

The real, lived-in moments. The ones that unfold when you forget the camera’s even there. The giggles, the hands nervously fidgeting before a first look, the way your eyes sparkle when you realize you’re married (!!!) These are the things that make your gallery timeless. Not because everything was “perfect,” but because it was yours.

It’s not to say that decor and details don’t matter: they do!! But when you know what really matters, you can feel more free to have fun and design something you want, instead of trying to fulfill a “trend” or perceived normal.

What doesn’t matter?
Perfection. Staged moments. The illusion of a wedding day that doesn’t actually feel like you.

You don’t need to perform your love. No need to force anything. You are allowed to just be. Crying in your makeup? Beautiful. A gust of wind that throws your veil into your face? Cinematic! There’s a slight time delay? Doesn’t matter. What we’re capturing is bigger than details, it’s the feeling. It’s the connection.

It’s life. Being lived in such vivid colors on this beautiful day.

So take a breath. Let go of the pressure to curate every second. Trust that if you stay present and soak in the joy, the photos will reflect that.

That is what actually matters in your wedding photos.

You bring the love. I’ll bring the camera. Together, we’ll tell the story that already exists—no perfection required.
