An engagement session at the baseball field is such a unique way to make your session feel personal. And this was extra true for Justice and Tyler, because this was the place where they got engaged! It was so much fun to be their Minnesota photographer and go back to a meaningful location to capture their photos.
We started off the day in Rockville County Park & Nature Preserve. This is such a great location if you’re looking for that Summer greenery vibe for your photos.
These two laughed and shared inside jokes the whole time, and I loved capturing it all on my camera. We knew we wanted to save golden hour for the ball field, so we made sure to meet up early enough to get plenty of photos out in nature before pivoting to their dream location.
Justice wore a soft floral dress that moved easily as they walked hand in hand through the park. Tyler kept things relaxed in neutral tones. They did such a good job coordinating their outfits and dressing for the environment of our first location.
If you were to hit rewind on these two, you’d find that Justice and Tyler met through mutual friends during their freshman year of high school. They spent years in the same circle before finally starting to date in the spring of their senior year. Then 2020 happened. School moved online. Life slowed down. We all have our stories from that time.
So these two spent their isolated days doing homework in the mornings together at home, and filling the afternoons with golf rounds and batting practice.
What felt strange to the world became one of the best seasons of their lives.
The tone shifted as we moved to the softball field in Luxemburg. This is where Tyler practices every Friday night. It’s an milestone part of their story. And most importantly: it is where the proposal happened.
Baseballs and softballs once spelled out “will you marry me” across the field. Justice was so excited and teased him to make sure he spelled everything correctly (spoiler: he did). He loved her cheeky response, and she loved being able to be herself with him. And that, is why these two are made for each other.
And we knew we had to do their engagement session at the baseball field, if we wanted to really capture their story.
Here, their outfits changed to matching baseball jerseys. The field brought out their playful side. Sitting on the benches, laughing together, leaning against the fence. These images feel personal because they are personal. I loved capturing this.
These two share a love for baseball, softball, football, golf, and just about anything competitive. Family matters deeply to both of them. Tyler’s big family gathers often and stays closely connected. Justice works alongside her mom at a bridal shop. Both value hard work and learning as they go. They support each other through every season.
This engagement session at the baseball field felt true to who they are. It is a reminder that the best sessions are built around real stories and real places that already hold meaning. Whether that’s a glacier in Alaska like these two, or hitting the ball at your local field. It’s all about YOU.
