Unique Engagement Session Location Idea in Minnesota

When your clients say they don’t want their engagement photos to be in a field like everyone else… and then suggest Asia Mall… you say YES. Immediately yes. This was a unique engagement session location that had me feeling SO inspired as a Minnesota wedding photographer.

Maria and Cheng had this vision for their engagement photos that felt more like the two of them, and less like something pulled off a Pinterest checklist. The second they mentioned doing their session at Asia Mall in Eden Prairie I already knew we were going to have a great time.

We wandered through glowing claw machines, grocery aisles, neon lights, and laughed our way through our time together.

It felt less like a photoshoot and more like me tagging along on the cutest date night ever. I mean, does it get better than that?

These two are the sweetest humans and I already know their wedding day is going to be amazing!!!

Choosing a Location That Feels Personal

One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is helping couples find locations that tell their love story. For Maria and Cheng, it was the Asia Mall. And we had a ton of fun! But part of the reason it was amazing, is because it was their vision and it felt authentic to them.

When discussing locations with my engaged couples, I always share my favorite places to take photos. But I also want to hear your sentimental spots.

  • where you had your first date
  • where you got engaged
  • a favorite local coffee shop or brewery
  • a park you love to picnic on the weekends

Anywhere that YOU love… that is where your photos are going to shine. That’s why I always want my couples to have a unique engagement session location that aligns with your story.

The best engagement sessions are not about perfect poses. They are about connection.

And that exists beyond our session. All we have to do is pick the outfits, find a location you vibe with and then meet up for photos. I’ll take care of the rest.

Maria and Cheng spent the evening of their session laughing, teasing each other, and fully embracing the experience. Whether they were sharing food over the table or standing beneath glowing arcade lights, their chemistry was effortless. The location matched their vibe, and that’s what I love about crafting unique sessions for all my couples.

By the end of the session, it felt like we had gone on a little adventure together. We captured their little mannerisms together, the spark of chemistry between them and their fun-loving dynamic.

Maria and Cheng reminded me yet again that engagement photos do not have to follow a formula. In fact, I think the most meaningful sessions happen when couples choose a place they genuinely enjoy and simply spend time together. It really can be that simple.

That’s why it matters when choosing a unique engagement session location.

Because it shows up in your gallery!

These two’s fun and non-traditional session was the perfect reflection of their relationship, and it made me even more excited for their wedding day. If their celebration is anything like this session, it is going to be unforgettable.

Congratulations again, Maria and Cheng!!!
