Sunrise Elopement in Itasca State Park

The Story

Welcome to the story of one of the dreamiest, beautifullest, magicallest (I like to make up my own words, okay?) sunrise elopements ever. Skyler and Pat originally reached out about a “very small ceremony” and emphasized how important it was that they get photos with their immediate family, who would be joining them. To take a step back in their story, though, an outdoorsy elopement was the perfect fit for these two. Both working in Natural Resources fields, both Skyler and Pat are either in or talking about the beautiful outdoors almost constantly.

We eventually settled upon a sunrise elopement in Itasca State Park with their family. It was a short hike to get to the spot that they had picked out and it was surreal to watch the sun rising as we made our way through the woods. We heard the birds waking up, watched the dew dancing on the leaves, and admired a few mushrooms, squirrels, and an eagle.

Following a short ceremony, performed by Skyler’s mom, we celebrated with a few family photos and a little portrait time. These two had never been in front of a professional camera before but they totally fooled me. They were such naturals!

This is one day I’ll never forget.

Skyler and Pat,
Thank you for sharing and trusting me to capture your wedding day.
I wish you years of love and laughter as husband and wife.

Gracefully yours,
Samantha
