These two lovebirds wanted to do Summer engagement photos at Bend in The River Park, and I was so excited to document them.
Some couples love stories begin with a chance meeting. Others begin with a little encouragement from friends and family.
Hannah and Jon’s story started when Jon’s mom decided to ask a simple question.
Two years ago, Hannah was a fifth-grade teacher touring classrooms in Pierz. One of those classrooms belonged to Mrs. Fuhrman, Jon’s mom. Never one to shy away from being bold, she asked Hannah if she was single. After some convincing from her friends, Hannah agreed to give Jon a chance. Looking back, she describes it as one of the clearest examples of God’s hand at work in her life.Their engagement session at Bend in the River Park in Rice felt like the perfect reflection of their relationship.
Their photos are so full of genuine connection, you can really see how magical it was that God brought them together.

A Casual Proposal That Was Perfectly Them
When it came time to propose, Jon kept things true to who they are as a couple.
On Christmas Eve Eve, while visiting the Country Lights Festival in Sartell, Jon asked Hannah to marry him. It was just the two of them. No crowd. No elaborate plans. Just a quiet moment together that felt exactly right.
That same easygoing spirit & close connection carried throughout their Summer engagement photos.

Bend in the River Park was the perfect spot!
Golden spring light filled the park as Hannah and Jon wandered through open fields, wooded paths, and scenic overlooks. The variety of locations gave the session a relaxed and natural feel. There is a reason it’s one of my most requested locations! You can see other recent sessions from this location here and here (if you want to get inspired for your own photos!)
Hannah’s denim midi dress layered over a fitted white top paired perfectly with the soft greens and warm tones of the landscape. Jon’s neutral button-down shirt and jeans complemented the setting without feeling overly formal. Together, their outfits were cohesive and authentic to who they are.

Built on Family, Friendship, and Faith
One thing that stands out immediately about Hannah and Jon is how much they value the people around them.
Family plays a central role in their lives, and they are grateful for the strong support systems they have. Whether they are spending time with loved ones, enjoying breakfast dates after church, or competing in Thursday night trivia, they genuinely enjoy doing life together.
Both have busy and fulfilling careers as well.
Hannah teaches sixth grade at Pioneer Elementary in Pierz, while Jon works with Premium Concrete and serves on the Pierz Fire Department. Their shared commitment to serving others shines through in every interaction.

As the sun dipped below the horizon and cast a warm glow across the river, we got the most magical photos together! It’s so easy to see why these two are so excited for the future. Their relationship is grounded in faith, family, friendship, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple moments.
In my book, that is a recipe for a beautiful life together.
Hannah and Jon’s Summer engagement photos were a beautiful reminder that the best love stories happen when you say yes to what life is offering you and trust the process. I’m so excited for these two and their beautiful future ahead!!! Thank you for having me as your Minnesota engagement photographer!
