I’ve been so excited to show you this North Shore Minnesota Elopement since the day-of!! Even with 46-degree temperatures and a steady wind rolling off Lake Superior, Katelyn and Santos never let the cold steal their joy. They stayed grounded and just really soaked in every moment. And they celebrated with the people who matter most.
A Cozy Morning Before the Adventure
The day began with quiet moments getting ready. Katelyn slipped into a truly beautiful bridal gown featuring delicate floral lace, a flowing tulle skirt, and complimentary pearl jewelry. Santos looked incredibly sharp in a rich brown plaid suit paired with a light neutral tie and a simple white boutonniere.
They had really intentional details from the florals to the decor. And it was such a gift to photograph a day that was truly a celebration for just the two of them. As a Minnesota wedding photographer, I really cherish these slow & meaningful days.
North Shore Minnesota Elopement Filled With Family
Their ceremony took place on the black sand shores of Black Beach. Waves rolled onto the shoreline while dramatic cliffs framed the background. The wind danced through Katelyn’s veil, and it felt like one of those beautiful moments in a movie. Their love was so palpable.
One of the sweetest parts of the day was how family was woven into every chapter.
Their little flower girl proudly carried her bouquet. Parents stood nearby during the ceremony. Everyone followed along as the portraits continued, turning the afternoon into an adventure instead of a schedule.
Elopements don’t have to be just the two of you (though they definitely can be!) but they can still include the people who mean the most. Katelyn and Santos did such a good job keeping the day really intimate & personal, while still including their people.
Chasing the Best Views
After the ceremony, everyone headed to Tettegouche for portraits among the forests, rocky shoreline, and quiet trails. The soft greens of spring paired beautifully with the neutral tones of their wedding attire. Every location offered a different backdrop while still feeling connected to the rugged beauty of the North Shore.
The day ended at Palisade Head, where towering cliffs overlooked Lake Superior. Standing high above the water, Katelyn and Santos embraced the wind instead of fighting it. The sweeping landscapes made every image feel both intimate and adventurous. Even as I was snapping the photo, I could see it framed in their living room one day.
It was the perfect ending to a day built around love, family, and unforgettable scenery.
