There are wedding days that feel less like an event, and more like a giant party everyone has been waiting for. Cheryl and Jared’s day at Shady’s Sunset Bay was exactly that. From the moment the day began, their fun-loving, down-to-earth energy was contagious. Their people brought that same spirit, making the entire day feel warm, joyful, and completely them.
A Classic Summer Look with the Sweetest Details
Cheryl looked stunning in a fitted lace gown with delicate straps and a beautiful train that moved effortlessly across the green lawn. Her loose waves was the perfect bridal hairstyle. And her colorful bouquet brought everything together with bright blooms in shades of coral, peach, blue, yellow, and white.
Jared wore a classic Groom fit with a black suit with a light tie and boutonniere. Together, they had that iconic wedding-day-look!
These two opted to get ready separately with their people before a private first look on the lawn.
Cheryl wanted to show her bridesmaids her gown in a “friends”bridesmaids first look” as well! So when she was ready, we went out to the lawn for the reveal. I love the girlhood in those moments!
Her first look with Jared was equally emotional and wonderful. These two truly love each other, and it’s so evident in the way they interact. The connection is just beautiful to witness and capture.

A Meaningful Moment Before the Ceremony
One of the most special parts of Cheryl and Jared’s day happened before the ceremony. They took time to visit Cheryl’s late father at the cemetery and honor his memory together.
Surrounded by family, they paused to remember someone who could not be there in person but was clearly very much a part of the day. These moments are what make me so beyond grateful that I am a wedding photographer. Life is not all sunshine & rainbows, and so often our loved ones don’t get to be here for our big moments. But taking time to be together and collectively remember their love is something that had me crying behind my camera.
Grief is love with nowhere to go. And their family shared that grief, especially on their big day. Raising a drink in his honor and remembering him together.

From the Ceremony to the Dance Floor at Shady’s Sunset Bay
After their ceremony at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, the celebration continued at Shady’s Sunset Bay in Avon, Minnesota. The reception space was filled with warm string lights, soft draping, and plenty of room for everyone to celebrate.
And celebrate they did!!
The dance floor quickly became THE place to be. Bridesmaids danced together. Little ones joined in. The wedding party brought plenty of personality. There were drinks, laughter, funny props, and more than a few unforgettable dance moves.
As a Minnesota wedding photographer, I love capturing all the moments of joy throughout a wedding day. I’m acutely aware that these are your core memories, and I am absorbing everything around me so I can capture it all for you.
I consider myself your second set of eyes on your wedding day!
As the day wound down, Cheryl and Jared slipped away for portraits along the water. The calm lake, soft blue sky, and evening golden hour light created the perfect backdrop for a few quiet moments together. They were able to really slow down and take in the magnitude of their big wedding day!
It was the perfect ending to a day that was so full of love, laughter, and family.
Cheryl and Jared, we are so, so happy for you both. Your wedding at Shady’s Sunset Bay was such a beautiful reflection of who you are and the people you love most. Congratulations, you two! 🤍
