Epic Red Barn Wedding in Central Minnesota

Tanya and Mitchell are MARRIED! And honestly, their red barn wedding was every bit as fun and full of spunky personality as these two are.

Just outside of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, these two celebrated with the people who know and love them best. From getting ready in the RVS on their property to a first look beside the bright red barn, the entire day was incredibly personal from start to finish. It was joyful!! And there was plenty of laughter the entire day.

A First Look With a Little Surprise

Tanya looked absolutely beautiful in her fitted lace wedding dress with delicate beading and a gorgeous open back. She paired it with turquoise jewelry that added the perfect pop of color. Her bridesmaids wore rich brown dresses with matching green accessories, which fit the rustic setting beautifully.Mitchell had a classic look for a red barn wedding! He wore a white button-down with a tan vest, jeans, boots, and his favorite ball cap.

But! Just when he got set up for the first look, right out side the red barn… he was in for a surprise.

One of his friends showed up in a full turtle costume and completely committed to the prank. So, Mitchell turned around, expecting to see his beautiful bride…. and instead was met with… a giant turtle??! The laughs broke out and it was like watching a core memory in the making haha

This was one of those moments that perfectly sums up this wedding. These two (and their friends!) know how to have a good time.

A Red Barn Wedding With All the Personality

The property was the perfect backdrop for their red barn wedding. Think: wide-open grass, mature trees, and plenty of room for their people to gather made everything feel incredibly homey.

Additionally, when it came time for portraits, Tanya and Mitchell didn’t hold back.

They hopped into their red convertible for golden hour portraits on the country roads. Especially the combination of the red car, glowing sunset, cornfields, and Tanya’s lace dress was basically a photographer’s dream.

Some of our favorite parts of the day included:

  • A hilarious turtle costume first look (obviously!!)
  • Portraits around the bright red barns
  • A sunset drive in their red convertible
  • A sweet outdoor ceremony surrounded by family and friends
  • A packed dance floor all evening
  • And yes, some very enthusiastic bouncing on inflatables (just scroll, you’ll see!)

A Wedding That Was Organic to These Two!

By the time the reception started, everyone was ready to get the party started!!

The rustic reception space was full of warm wood, string lights, vintage signs, music, and people who clearly came ready to celebrate the happy couple. Tanya and Mitchell danced together. Their friends danced. Someone ended up riding giant inflatable balls across the dance floor. The turtle danced on the pole.

It was wonderfully chaotic in the best possible way.

Because, truly, that is what made this red barn wedding so special.

It wasn’t about creating a polished production. It was about creating a day that felt like them. As someone who documents your biggest life moments for a living… this day just felt extra special and carefree to me!

Tanya and Mitchell, we couldn’t be happier for you both. Thank you for letting us document such a fun, meaningful, completely unforgettable day.

Cheers to forever, you two! ❤️
